The works in this show are based on subjects easy to recognize and not difficult to understand. Ranging from biblical to contemporary subjects their themes are timeless where the particular reflects upon the general and the factual turnssymbolic; where, pointing beyond what it is, it becomes poignant by remaining itself. Lloyd Bloom attended the Art Students’ Leagueand the New York Studio School in New York City. He Received a BA from Hunter College, CUNY, an MFA from Indiana University at Bloomington and a Fulbright Scholarship for his drawing and painting. He has illustrated books for children that have gained a wide audience, critical acclaim andindustry citations for the depth and richness of their images. He received the National Jewish Book Award for Best Illustrated Children’s book of 1987 and was among ten artists chosen to represent the United States by the International Board on Books for Young People at Bratislava, Czechoslovakia in 1989.
